March events

  • Cowsey clean up: As part of the annual RESCUE event supported by Thames Water, the Church Ward Labour team will be out cleaning up litter and tidying the Cowsey on Sunday 29th March at 11am, meeting at the Hartland road entrance. Please come and join us to help if you are free.
  • Surgery: Ward Councillors will be available to listen to any resident concerns on Saturday March 7th from 10.30am-12pm.  The surgery will take place in the new Community café in the South Reading community centre.
  • Canvassing: Ward Councillors and Labour representatives will be out speaking to residents on Saturday 21st March at 10.30am-12.30pm on Ashburton Road, Whitley Wood Road and Alandale Road, Thursday 26th March on Devonshire park at 6pm and Saturday 28th March on Hazel Crescent and Beech Road at 10.30am.  Please let us know of any concerns in your area we can help with.
  • Whitley Big Local Local trust meeting: The Big local have submitted their community plan to the Local trust on how to spend the lottery money they received. The meetings/discussions will take place on Friday 13th March at 2pm and 6pm at The community cafe in the South Reading Community centre.
  • Public discussion on income inequality: Reading Quakers will be hosting a public discussion on income inequality including topics of the living wage and lack of affordable housing. The debate will take place on Wednesday 1st April at the Friends meeting house on Church street.
  • Reading East General election debate: Reading University will be hosting a debate between all Reading East Parliamentary candidates including Labour candidate Matt Rodda.  The event will take place at the student Union and starts at 7.30pm.  More details can be found here: Reading East election debate.
  • Full Council meeting: Ward Councillors will be present at the Full Council meeting to debate and discuss any pressing issues facing local residents.  The meeting is open to the public so please feel free to come along.
